The Little Red Hen did all the work. She sewed the grain, pulled the weeds, watered the sprouts, harvested the grain and baked the bread. All along she asked for help but no one was there with her until they smelled the bread – which of course everyone wanted a piece of!
It is rare to hear someone overtly say that they want to discriminate against customers or coworkers with disabilities. Accessibility at a fundamental level is something that pretty much everyone agrees is a good thing. However it takes effort from all levels of organization to smell that baked accessibility bread at the end of the day.
Do your part. If you were outside of the accessibility part of your organization, ask how you can help. If you’re inside the accessibility part of the organization, don’t forget to include input from procurement communications, HR and other departments in the organization to have a truly mature and “fully baked” organizational load of accessibility bread.
Alt: Accessibility is the little red hen of the business world. Almost everyone wants the accessible experience, however, not everyone wants the responsibility of making that happen.
