It’s time to make some New Year’s accessibility resolutions. Before you get started, remember that your leadership will likely want you to prove objective improvements before giving you money to spend. Measuring where you are is the first step to launching any new accessibility initiative.
Start small and eat the elephant one spoonful at a time. Focus on one simple thing across all your products, websites, and documents – alt text, color, or captions for example.
Measure your starting point, measure your improvement and look at the engagement numbers. Are people spending more time watching your videos or staying on pages longer? Is your customer conversion rate going up? Are people opening more newsletters?
Those are the statistics you can use to prove the effectiveness of your initiatives.

You can’t improve what you don’t measure.
