Accessibility and DEI are Deeply Interconnected

Accessibility and DEI are deeply interconnected. Too often, organizations treat them as separate initiatives. This disconnect risks creating accessibility solutions that lack depth and fail to address the real-world challenges people with disabilities face. For accessibility to thrive, it must incorporate diverse perspectives and lived experiences. Without DEI, accessibility becomes a surface-level effort that overlooks intersectionality, equity, and the richness of human diversity.

If last week taught us anything, it is clear where the next four years will take us with DEI in the US. Accessibility will have to completely detach from DEI to have any chance of continued success.
